Visit Vollenhof during the Oldebroek Art Festival 2022

Friday and Saturday August 12 and 13 the Vollenhof mansion welcomes visitors during the two-day Art festival of Oldebroek. Don’t miss this part of the Oldebroek Art route this summer!

Artist Willem Bultman from Elburg will display statues and paintings in front of the mansion and in the messy work of the former coach house.

Archie van Riemsdijk will tell the interested visitors something about the family portraits in the mansion, mostly from the period 1800-1950. The interior of the mansion is largely as it was furnished in the 1960s by his grandparents Adriaan and Aurelia van Riemsdijk.

Live music will be played by Inge Mulder on Saturday at 13.30 and 14.30.

The monument

With its classical outlay, studded by lanes of beech trees, the Vollenhof is easily the fairest dwelling of Oldebroek. At least those who live there say so. It is the kind of house children like to draw. The whitewashed house with its dark green blinds huis is the center of a historical country house, including former gate and driveway, former coach house, former gardener’s home and former farmhouse. Gate and lanes are work in progress, just like the interior decoration of the house. We do hope the furniture and portraits still evoke the atmosphere of a “house outside” during the middle of the last century. Come check it out!

Some portraits date from the 19th century, like the painting of Adrianus van Riemsdijk van Gemert by Nicolaas de Winteroy. Adrianus, from a family of school teachers in the city of Tiel, made a good show governing the province Limburg under king William I and was elevated to nobility.

Portraits of five subsequent mostly well-connected generations adorn the mansion as well.
